Reflections on water :: Exhibit                       Winter 2006

To be fair to you, the viewer, I have to let you know something of who I am and from what experiences I am communicating. To begin with, I consider myself a water baby. My mom took me to swimming classes from the time I was 6 months old and my family owned property on a watershed lake in Berryton, Kansas. In the last year and a half of my life, I have seen a lot of change. To begin with, I am 24 years old and a recent B.A. graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. My emphasis was studio art and a minor in biblical languages. I am currently a second-year student at Concordia Seminary in Saint Louis, Missouri. Recently I have experienced weddings, including my own to Kendra in June of 2005, the death of my mom, Tina, in December of 2005, and moving to a new home in Saint Louis. Consequently, in my work, themes of life, death, baptism, and communion should be seen fairly continuously throughout. Water is the primary image or vehicle for communicating these ideas as well as being an object of appreciation in and of itself.
